Furniture leather - a long‑lasting, naturally sourced material that already exists

Our mission

N-20 Studio’s mission is to give new life to surplus leather from Estonian furniture and footwear manufacturers by transforming it into unique and long‑lasting accessories. The furniture industry generates a significant amount of leather offcuts - pieces too small for factory production needs, yet highly valuable as material for us.

We believe that using leather to its fullest and most consciously is the only ethical approach. The material has already been produced at the expense of natural resources and therefore deserves respectful and thoughtful use. Much of the leather used in furniture production also carries the Oeko‑Tex certification, meaning it is safer for both the environment and the wearer.

Leather, as a natural material, carries traces of life - small scars, variations in texture, and subtle shifts in colour. We do not view these as defects but as meaningful details that give each product its one‑of‑a‑kind character. No two pieces are ever exactly alike.

The entire design and production process takes place by hand in our studio located in the Aparaaditehas in Tartu, where every detail receives careful attention. In addition to using materials responsibly, we follow ethical production principles - each model is made in limited quantities. New products are then created primarily on a made‑to‑order basis, taking into account the customer’s personal preferences, whether it’s colour, pattern, or a specific functional solution.

This approach helps prevent overproduction and allows us to offer more than just a product - an accessory with personal meaning, crafted to endure both time and use.
